This is a re-recording of my earlier version of 2007, which was not very good. These ones are not perfect either, alas... but a lot better, and I think they
can be enjoyed despite the occasional little fluff. Dvorak's piano writing can be very difficult and impractical, as is the case with most composers who
were not good pianists. I think these are among hist best works for piano, they much remind me of the Slavonic Dances.

Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 1: Moderato (3:21)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 2: Allegro con fuoco (3:43)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 3: Poco allegro (2:56)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 4: Allegro vivace (3:00)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 5: Allegro (3:21)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 6: Allegro (4:51)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 7: Allegro moderato (3:23)
Dvorak - Eight Waltzes Op.54 - 8: Allegro vivace (3:20)

Edit - Replaced no.8 with a much better version

Hello Chris,
Such a big work of recording deserves at least one (positive) comment ! You're just too prolific...
I have just listened your waltz set taking my breakfast, and it was a good way to start the day ! The music is not bad - maybe you are exagerating claiming this is among the best things Dvorak wrote for piano. I've checked in a piano music reference book I have; they quote about 10 opus numbers, but they don't refer to this one. Nevertheless, this music is worth playing and taking out of oblivion. And your interpretation is very convincing. My special congratulations for having captured the particular waltz rythm, which should be catchy but not stiff... You would have done an excellent lounge pianist in XIXth century Wien !

Haha yes, that must be it. Or else people just don't like Dvorak. Indeed he is not a pianists' composer.

I wonder if that doesn't say more about the reference book than about this opus. Which are those items listed there ? But yes he did write more ambitious pieces, which are perhaps also 'better', like the Theme and Variations and Poetic Tone Pictures.

I shall take that as a compliment :) Thanks for the feedback !
