This New Master Class includes an introduction to Ives and his work; a mini-clinic on the use of dissonance in modern composition/improvisation, and listening and discussions of 5 of Ives' solo piano pieces.

Thanks for that Dave ! I've been listening to quite some Ives lately, and once again lamenting the fact that I'll never be able to play the Concord Sonata, so this was most welcome. Great job on demonstrating the various types of dissonance.
I had never heard any of the pieces on offer here. The Waltz Rondo is a real peach, and hearing Ives sing at the piano is a revelation. Not a good voice at all but of course that would not stop him. What an extraordinary and original soul Ives was ! I'd love to have met him. And so way ahead of his time, some of his writing giving Sorabji a run for his money. Absolutely gorgeous playing by Donald Berman.
