Michael Kaykov was born in St Petersburg, Russia, to a musical family.
As his mother was employed at the Marijinski Theatre, he spent a great deal of time there.
Michael gave his first concert performance at the age of six, at the conservatory of his birthplace.
At seven, he emigrated with his family to the United States, where he enrolled at the Special Music School of America.
When Michael was eleven, he was a prize-winner at the
Juilliard School of Music’s Third Annual People’s Piano Competition,
and in 2006 won the Young Pianists Competition of New Jersey,
playing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Michael has appeared at such renowned New York concert venues as Carnegie Hall,
Steinway Hall, CAMI Hall and Merkin Concert Hall.
Since 2006, he has regularly participated in the International Keyboard Institute and Festival,
participating in the masterclasses of Jerome Rose, Leslie Howard and Jeffrey Swann, amongst others.
