From Friday August 1 until Friday August 8 2008, the 8th Peter the Great Festival will take place in the city and province of Groningen in the Netherlands.
The annual Peter the Great Festival aims at talented young string instrumentalists, pianists, organ players and singers in the age of 12 until about 27. If you are young, talented and fall into this category, you can take part in this festival. During the festival about 80 young musicians from all over the world will practise music intensively and at a high level in master classes as well as in chamber music classes. In past years participants came from all over Europe, Australia, the US, Canada, Japan and Russia.
But you can participate with your own ensemble as well. Ensembles can benefit from the experience of skilful musicians, with specific knowledge in the field of chamber
music and ensemble playing. Performance skills and communicating with the audience are, in addition to performing in general, important goals in the master classes. Students will perform during the special young talent concerts of the festival.
