Try as I might, I've never found any video of Rach at the piano.

Does anyone know if such a video exists?

I only know of audio recordings and photographs. It would be something to hear and see him talk and play the piano. Would be creepy though, like this audio recording done in 1878

I don't know why Rachmaninov was never video taped, he was certainly around the beginning of Television. It's a shame when one thinks about it.

Definitely he was around at the time of video taping which started in the end of 30th.

I have a DVD filming him without sound (a couple of different clips) but the person who talks says clearly that it is a shame that he never video taped his playing.

Who knows, maybe there's and old film reel tucked away in a dusty vault. We can hope. Video/audio technology was ubiquitous by the 1940's and even at the time of the Ampico recordings, it was technically feasible to combine audio with video. As a side note, did you hear of the recent discovery of a never-before-seen movie of Adolph Hitler? Some guy had it in his closet, collecting dust!

What about taped interviews (audio or otherwise). I've never heard him speak. Considering all the recordings he made during his lifetime, I can't believe he never recorded his own voice. Was Rach uneasy of being filmed?
