Just FYI

Postby YoungPianoVirtuoso » Mon Oct 10, 2011 7:10 am

I am a very young pianist, so young in fact, I have only composed 7 pieces that one could argue are "cheaters pieces," given that I made them with notation software. I am having trouble composing a real piece, mostly because I only know a few rhythms by hand, but so many by head (I'll explain that if you like, just say so) and I find it difficult to come up with chords that work together. If that isn't bad enough, I am a beginner at playing with both hands. But that has not stopped me from attempting
By Chopin: Opus 46, Opus 10 numbers 1, 3, 9 & 12 (I am currently practicing 12 now for a recital) Opus 25 No. 10 Opus 53, Opus 40 No. 1 & Opus 35, the third movement. (the list goes on)

I hope this motivates someone. :D

Pianists (or piano players) that compose are the exception, not the rule, so there's nothing to worry there. Can you detail your studies a bit?

Young Piano Virtuoso,

I don't know what you mean when you say "cheater's pieces" ? And I think you are on the right track playing classical piano pieces by Chopin. He was a fantastic composer and you can no doubt learn just from playing his pieces.

Like Eddy is saying, we can help you more if you give us more information about your background,
