Hello
I have a progression of chords and have written an introduction. I was wondering if we could kind of play a game. Whoever would like to add something to the piece may. We'll start at 4 measures per person. But, it should have a solid melody and development maybe.

I thought I'd give this a try as I might try to do something like this with my piano students at Messenger in the fall. We'll see.
Anyway, here is the attachment. I guess you can make modifications to the intro, if you see it needs any.
So, just for fun!
If you do this, we will have a collaborated composition from the piano society.

I'd be willing to give that a try, but first a couple of suggestions:
-A different name for the thread. It'll attract more people.
-A stable system for creating and uploading files
-MuseScore is a free, high quality, multiplatform software to jot down notes and the saved files are very portable (for quick/compatible distribution)
-Uploading files through this website (attachments) doesn't seem to work well, or at least I never see attachments that are supposed to exist (such as yours), I suppose they get deleted after a period of time or inactivity
-It's best to use an external source for uploading (I use freewebs, but there's others out there)
-Maybe one person could be emailed the file then proceed to upload it to a single location for the public. This would be repeated through each revision of the piece.
-Each composer could post a picture of what they've added.

Of course we could do it the easy way and just attach a segment which we'd like to add to the piece, but I mentioned the above for the sake of stability.

Really, the trouble is getting a large number of people to do this with consistency. Seeing as this section of the forum is somewhat of a ghost town with thousands of views yet few replies, I don't see this idea going very far, though I'd love to see it happen.

Four Improvisations for Piano by Arensky, Rach, etc.

This could be a useful resource. Kinda fun.

Yeah I actually had those pieces in mind, when I saw this thread.

Hi!
I didn't realize anyone had posted
I haven't been here in a while. Been busy with work and other things.

thphaca: thanks for the tips. I'm relatively new to forums of this nature, so any tech tips are appreciated.

Maybe if I can find the original file I'll save it as a pdf and post it to the forum through 4shared or something like that.

I'd like to know what I should call this thread too, any suggestions are welcome!

The 4 improvisations are interesting to listen to. Thanks for introducing me to it.

Anyway, I'm looking for the file now.

Thanks.

Sounds like an interesting project I'd like to give it a try! I'm not expecting the most polished of pieces if it will be one piece built by a number of amateur composers (i.e. me and whoever else cares to admit it) but I usually jump for a chance to collaborate in projects of musical design.

If you are not able to find the pdf or sound file, I can start the discussion (piece) with my paragraph and everyone else can add.

Just let me know if you have the piece or if you would like me to start something

I am excited :) --it should be fun.
