Heino Eller ( 1887-1970) is one on the most played estonian composers-classics in the world. His piece "Domestic Song" is definitely in the repertory of all estonian pianists. I do hope You will like that piece of nordic harmony...

Very well played!

I believe I have heard this nice little piece several times in the swedish classical radio. Perhaps it was a similar piece by Heino as I do not know that much about his compositions. I assume that he is not very famous outside the "European Nordic" area and as I remember him, he was a great violin virtuoso.

Your interpretation sounds very similar as I remember how it sounded on the radio and have the true Nordic atmosphere, but I have never seen the score so I cannot really tell.

A very charming piece ! I can imagine it being popular in Sweden as it has that certain nordic melancholy. And perfectly played as we expect from you.

Can we put this up the site, what do you think Robert ? If yes, Leonald can you provide a bio text for Eller ?

Leonald, I now have to ask whether you play any Tubin ?

I am very glad You are interested in Eduard Tubin.
He is really a good composer. Within some weeks I will record some of his preludes and by spring I will try to prepare " Theme with Varations".
I will put up the bio of Heino Eller to Audition Room, as soon as You have received the one You may delite it from the site.

Leonald

Yes he is a very good composer, if perhaps not a truly great one. I admire him much as a symphonist, but I am still trying to get to grips with his piano works, which are very pianistic and well written but sometimes do not appeal at first hearing. I posted an Estonian website link in the forum some time ago which has many splendid recordings (were you perhaps one of these pianists ?)

I am about to put up the recording but I am not sure if Domestic Song is a part of a set of compositions. Can you help out Leonald?

Preliminarily H. Eller composed his " Tune of Homeland" (Domestic Song) as a part of a sequence " Five Pieces for String Orchestra" and only at a later stage he adapted it for piano. Now this very tune is an absolutely independent piece of work.
