Alrighty then...

Here is (hopefully) a redeeming recording of the Black Key etude. A bit more under control and possibly a few more right notes. Also, the famous B minor prelude.

And, just for techneut, Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor from Book I.

I think I've figured out the problem for the noise (useing two mics instead of one, which probably overloads this poor compy) and the tonal quality has improved from the last mic settings.

The 4th Ballade and complete Beethoven Op. 109 will follow shortly....

Your Black Key Etude was almost perfect! Also dynamics very good!
The only comment I can make is that your left hand seems a little too loud sometimes (especially in the beginning), but furtheron a very nice recording! Your right hand is very clear.

Your Prelude was very nice too. The melody especially was played really well. But watch out that your right hand doesn't get too soft and tends to fade away.

Joe, I liked your "black key" etude. Very clean and fast. Nothing wrong with the Prelude, either. Good job. (I can't listen to your other recordings yet).

Well that etude is a lot better for going at a sane tempo. Much clearer. The LH seems to lead a bit of a life of its own - interesting accents and articulation but perhaps a bit too pointillistic in places.

The prelude is good of course. Anybody can do that

And a Bach P+F just for me... What did I do to deserve that
Well done, no quibbles about the prelude (though I prefer to take the long trill twice as fast). It also corrected a reading mistake of mine in tha last couple of bars. Thatnks for that ! The fugue is good too, the fugue theme (mostly) clearly brought out. I find it a bit too fast and hectic though, it seems like halfway the second page you get decidedly impatient and a bit brusque. Gotta watch that Joe, patience is the greatest virtue in Bach. Also, the couple of ill-tuned notes start to really irritate here(seems like it's always the crucial notes that are off the most, don't they).

The Revolutionary has great potential. Especially the unisono parts are impressive. The whole is a bit too casual and lacking in drama. Some of the LH work seems a bit muddled in the middle section. When you can add more weigth and power, this will be great.

Forgot to ask... which ones you want to go up the site ? All I suppose ? Although the Bach would really deserve a re-recording on account of the sour notes.

5:th etude of Chopin. A LOT better and this is really really good. You play it the brave way with very little use (if any) of the pedal which makes it more difficult. Bravo!

12:th Chopin is really good as well! Heard a couple of wrong notes but no problems at all.

The Chopin prelude is played with patience as should be. A nice touch and sound.

The Back prelude and fugue is very well played too. You make the trills in the prelude consistant abd twice the speed of the other hand all the way which I belive is correct.

yes, if you think any/all should go up, I would be most appreciative. I rerecorded the Bach last night (with that darn D tuned) and will post that up with the Ballade and Beethoven when I can.



Lol...Thanks for reminding me that I need to update my bio. No, it's been about 5 years that I've seriously been practicing. I did learn to read a little music before that so it gave me a bit of a head start.

I listened to your both Chopin Etudes. They sound very good to me, especially the black key etude.

You are really a very talented pianist, Joe - to be able to play those virtuoso pieces after only some years of piano playing!

Especially I like your dynamics, in both etudes. Maybe in the 10/12 etude some left hand notes were missed or lost in the dark, but in the 10/5 etude the right hand notes came crytal clear.

Congratulations, that was a great achievement!
