Pretty music, mostly.
Not really our thing, though. I don't think these hold enough interest for the classical listener, sorry.

Hi Mr. Guerra,

Nice to meet you, I am Riley. I had a listen to Memories of Alexandria, you have written something rather neat, though I have to echo what Chris says. It is hard for me to follow the direction of the piece, and I admit it sounds through-composed. Is this piece in a certain style (prelude, minuet, sonata?) If I may say so, the five note ornaments are kind of tacky, but this analysis could go unnoticed. What's missing, IMO, if you want to be a composer on this site (granted, it is not my decision) is for you to create pieces with more clear development of a single theme with contrasting sections. And more in the classical style.

I originally was in your position, (and if a composer is only as good as his last work, I still am  ) so I suggest you continue writing as a way of improving as a composer. Somebody has it that you have to put in 10,000 hours at a subject before you can claim mastery. Some might disagree, but I think that's true for piano performance as well as music composition.

Good luck,

~Riley

thanks for your analysis ...
your are 100 % right ...
the piece is indeed through-composed ...
in actual fact it is one theme with improvisations in between ...
the tacky ornament : my piano teacher always said 'livio, be careful with these chromatic cells !' ...
so there is no style to be referred to ...
as a matter of curiosity I created the piece after having read the book ( written by a friend/schoolmate of mine ) ...
I enclose a review of the book ... in a way it says it is trough-composed ...
see this sentence ...
The author leaps back and forth from decade to decade and from continent to
continent, making frequent digressions ...

soon I'll pick one of my pieces that might recall a classical style ( or write a brand-new one ) and try my luck again ...
thanks again
Livio
