Hello -
I would like to be considered as a pianist with the Piano Society. Here is my 4th submission, a recording I made (this week) of Claude Debussy's Reverie in MP3 format at 192 kbps. The piano is the Garritan Steinway Model D "Classic" mode and it was played via an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88.

Regards,

Frederick Johnson

Hi again, Frederick.

I just now listened to your Debussy here and also your Rachmaninoff Moments Musicaux. Both sounded lovely - a thunderstorm just rolled through and now it is only gently raining so this music is perfect for the scene. We will take these two recordings, plus your other Rachmaninoff Prelude. Please submit your bio and photo and we'll add you as a member.

p.s. Is Hampshire that town with the cow in the middle of Main Street? We pass it on our way to Lake Geneva.

Thank you so much! I am very happy to be part of this and look forward to giving in any way I can! I think this is a wonderful community of piano music lovers and I am glad to find you all.

Here's my biography:

Frederick Johnson has performed internationally as a classical piano soloist, accompanist and organist. His varied repertoire highlights works from the 19th and 20th century with a focus on the Romantic and Impressionist composers including Chopin, Liszt, Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Debussy, although it is not unusual to hear a Mozart concerto or Beethoven sonata at one of his concerts as well.

Mr. Johnson began playing the piano at age 4, and gave his first recital at age 7. He studied for 15 years in Cleveland, Ohio with Ms. Helen Faber, a pupil of the late great Artur Rubinstein. While studying in Cleveland, he regularly gave recitals with the Fortnightly Musical Club of Cleveland, a part of the Cleveland Music School Settlement and he regularly competed in the National Federation of Music Clubs competitions in solo piano, piano concerto and organ categories.

He also attended the famed Interlochen Center for the Arts for 6 summers and studied piano and organ with many notable pedagogical and concert artists including Van Cliburn, Dr. Max Camp, Natalie Matanovic, Robert Murphy, Kenneth Sweetman and others. Additionally, Mr. Johnson graduated valedictorian of his class at the United States Armed Forces School of Music and played for dignataries while part of the United States Navy Band Program. He has played clarinet, oboe and auxillary percussion instruments for a wide range of classical and pop bands and orchestras.

Mr. Johnson has also served as choir director, accompanist and organist for a number of churches in including two in the Chicago area. He has a great appreciation for both choral and handbell works and has directed ensembles of all different sizes both in recital and competitive venues. His first love continues to be the grand piano and the master works created for it. Mr. Johnson holds both Bachelor and Master degrees.

Picture is attached.

And FYI, Hampshire is a bit south of the town with the cow in the middle of Main Street - I think that's Woodstock which is directly north of us. That said, Hampshire is a tiny farming community (population: 2,500) and it would not surprise me if cows have stood in the middle of our Main Street from time to time. ;-)

Ok, Frederick, you are now officially a member of Piano Society! Welcome again!! We hope you will stay active on our forum not only by submitting recordings, but also listening/commenting on other members' recordings.

Please check your page and all links and report to me if something is amiss(something weird - I was just now making a link somewhere and then it disappeared - I can't find it :? ). There should be three recordings: Debussy Reverie, Rach Prelude, and Rach Moments.

Thank you again - I look forward to participating! The bio & pic for me are fine (although maybe a George Clooney pic would have been better?).

Regards,
Fred

Hi Frederick,

First, welcome to Piano Society! We look forward to your participation here. The members here are all very capable pianists and very helpful as well.

Your rendition of Debussy's "Reverie" is lovely and poetic indeed. Very beautifully played. Thanks for sharing it.

David
