I initially intended to get these up earlier, but I decided to wait till after the term had ended to put them together. Now there's a complete set, though! Hopefully these meet your standards; my biggest irritation with the recording is that I feel the voices aren't balanced the best at times. The recording quality itself is the same as the others so that the set 'matched' but for future recordings I have something else in mind that should be more impressive than the little Edirol R-09 that I have been using.

For those looking for a challenge, forget No. 4 'Diabolical Suggestions'; as popular as it is, try No. 2! Short, exciting, and harder than the first impression would give it. No.3 has that hypnotic ostinato; I love how it resolves in the ending.

I hope you like the pieces, and please list critiques!

Best,

Brett

Prokofiev - Four Little Pieces, Op.4 No.2 'Impetus' (0:57)
Prokofiev - Four Little Pieces, Op.4 No.3 'Despair' (3:08)

That is some seriously good playing ! I don't know these pieces so can't give any detailed feedback, but it seemed to me there was very little to improve. Apart from the sound, which is a bit harsh and distant (for which I don't think you can blame the Edirol R-9, it can deliver sound much nicer than this).
I will put these on the site tonight.

Ok these are up, Brett. Please check if all is ok. If you have some text for that page and maybe an image, that would be appreciated.

Thanks for the comment!

The main issue with the sound was with my placement of the Edirol; it could have been closer to the piano, and higher up as well, but I wanted to try and match the previous recordings. With the omni-mics I had initially put it back a bit (about 10 feet out) hoping to get a good recording without adding any digital reverb, but I ended up having to do that anyways. The 'edgy' sound I think came from 'cleaning' the audio afterward, because I needed to set the levels a little higher due to it being farther back from the piano. I don't get much time with it as I just borrow it from a friend, so I have been looking into different options for a recording set-up of my own to replace it, and to try and 'upgrade' in the process.

I will try and get a bio and image to you ASAP!

Best,

Brett
