Now that you've played it as fast as is humanly possible, try a more poetic performance, maybe?

Wow, an extremely impressive calling card. Yes it is very fast but not too fast IMO. With such souplesse and total control it would be a shame to take it any slower One of the best performances of this etude I have heard yet.

I consider this an extremely good performance of this etude. It is supposed to be that fast. Congratulations on being able to play it at the correct speed with good interpretation. Perhaps some of us need to remind ourselves that this is an etude, not a nocturne.

Indeed, this is a most authoritative performance! I'm just partial to slower etudes.

I'm so happy you're here, Doxy. You might even warm me up to the idea of playing faster.

That was among the most impressive recordings I have heard and not only are you able to handle the technical difficulties, you also make a very musical performance! You do absolutely right in playing softer and with less or perhaps no pedal at the beginning of bar 17 to gradually restore the forte to bar 21.

You play an extra C bass key in bar 10 which I have heard other pianists do as well. Is there a score edition that has this extra key? Cortot does this as well for example.

Fantastic, powerful 10/1! Amazing speed. An ideal opening for the cycle... In fact, I'd love to hear your playing of 10/2.

Robert, I don't have the scores with me, but if I remember correctly the extra bass note is not indicated by Chopin or his pupils, but rather Cortot's own addition in his edition of the etudes at Salabert Publisher) -- I think he has a similar suggestion for the opening C in bar 1, but this alternative is not played here. But Urtext or not, it sounds great!

(btw, I hope to be a more regular visitor from next month on again - nice to see the community growing in the meantime!)
