Well, I'm sorry, but I can't stand seeing this. I think you are a young person who does not understand the whole picture. Either your parents have fed you incorrect information, or you are an extreme muslim, like Osama BinLaden, and if that's the case, as you can imagine, we Americans have a huge problem with you.
What you may not know is that the United States comes to the aid of every nation who has a terrible crisis, whether it be related to a natural disaster, or war related. Plus, we are usually the first country to do so. Chances are we have helped your country. But what really, really bugs me is when the struggling country who pleaded for our help, receives our help, gets its feet back on the ground, and then suddenly changes its tune and slams the U.S when we are involved in a war which is trying to bring terrorism to an end.
What country are you from and why do say you hate America? If you're going to post such a statement, you should at least explain why. Again, I can't stand to see this. It has no bearing on a music site, anyway.

Ms. PianoLady, you shouldn't over react like that. It is a common theme throughout the world of anti-Americanism. We should already be used to it. I am. Most of the time I do not agree with what goes on in Washington (regardless if it is Democratic or Republican) because it is not a true reflection of the average American.

Just ignore comments like that.

It is true that this forum is not a place for politics, but music. And I also agree that something like that should not be revealed. However, you have to respect freedom of speech.

Besides there is more to life than politic-ing and becoming stressed over things like that. Take a lesson from me....relax, breath, and smile

It is true that you are free to say and write whatever you want. And likewise, people are free to take offense - it works both ways. Not being American I can't get too wound up about this, but it is an idiotic and puerile thing to do on a forum that is based on friendship and love for music. If you want to give a controversial political statement, do that in another forum. I am sure there's some 'americahaters' newsgroup or forum where you can find likeminded people and vent your anti-whatever feelings to your heart's content. You would be wise to remove that clause from your profile if you want to continue taking part in this forum.

Lastly, please consider that many people here are from the USA, and that computers and Internet, which you seem to have no aversion to using, are an American invention.

I agree that polemic, sarcastic and provoking statements like these don't belong here. They lead to all these political discussions you find on every bigger forum and that are sometimes interesting, but mostly just annoying and full of ranting and flaming. And freedom of speech doesn't allow disturbing people who just want to discuss music peacefully.

By the way, it seems the musical world is quite sensitive with politics. I've read somewhere that Pollini once protested again the Vietnam war on stage before a concert. The audience somewhat hated him for that...

Undoubtedly some of the ideas and technologies behind what we now know as 'the computer' originated from the old world. Like the atomic bomb could be credited indirectly to scientists like Einstein, Rutherford and Bohr.
Invention is often merely building on the work of others, creating a succesful application where none was before.
