Another question about Faure...

Postby chopinman0901 » Mon Apr 30, 2007 8:22 am

Sorry, but I have another question about Faure. I'm looking to get a Faure book of music, but I can't seem to decide what book to get. Unlike many musicians I look at what pieces the book has rather than the publisher (although that sometimes does factor in - I like Alfred the best). I've never played any of his pieces, so I wouldn't want anything too challenging.

Alfred and Schirmer each had a book with about 7 random pieces, almost too random for me, which is why I've narrowed it down to 2 Dover books (I think). One book is called Gabriel Faure: Complete Preludes, Impromptus And Valses-Caprices (hopefully you know what pieces are in it), and the other is Nocturnes and Barcarolles for Solo Piano (you better know what's in this one too). The only thing is that the Nocturnes and Barcarolles is missing the 13th entry for both genres.

So if anyone knows which book I should choose, or if they know of a better one, I'd appreciate their help. Thanks!

Or I can send you everything in my collection by Faure, for free  . Then you can take a look at no cost and play what you want instead of having to buy a book.
Madam, what makes you think that I play with my hands?
