Erik Edwards
Erik Edwards was born in December 1982.
Introduced to the piano at the age of 8, Edwards underwent piano
studies until he was 14, at which point he gave up the piano for sports
and other recreational activities; this is one of his biggest regrets.
It was not until the summer of 2003 at the age of 20 that his music
experimentation was re-ignited. With the purchase of a classical
guitar, Edwards began studying and learning works of prominent
classical guitarists, such as Fernando Sor, Matteo Carcassi and
Francisco Tárrega. During the winter of 2005, he was studying a version
of Chopin’s Nocturne Op.9 No.2, transcribed to guitar by Tárrega. Upon
listening to the nocturne on the piano, Edwards then wanted more than
anything to resume his studies of the piano. After almost immediately
purchasing a digital piano, making his musical endeavors more possible
away from home, Edwards began playing once more and vows never again to
quit.
Edwards is a 2005 graduate of The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. His current plans are to attend the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and become a licensed funeral director. Contemplating on whether to follow this love for music even further and to pursue further education are thoughts that continue to run rampant in his imagination.
Edwards continues his studies of the classical guitar and piano whenever time allows. He enjoys sharing his music with others and appreciates the opportunity to do so: “Thank you Piano Society.” Lately, he has also begun experimenting with blues and jazz on both instruments.
