Joseph Kingma

Joseph Kingma began his formal piano studies, at the age of 13, in August of 2002 with Elena Arseniev, a graduate of the Russian conservatory, of Rockville,
MD. After competing in four competitions the following spring (winning prizes
in three of them), his family moved to Michigan. While living near the Grand
Rapids area, Joseph's most influential teachers have been Philip Pletcher,
Deborah Moriarty (Michigan State University), and Aviram Reichert (Grand Valley
State University). Joseph has acquired a large repertoire of
classical, romantic, and impressionistic music, and he has performed with the
Greenville orchestra Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise
Brilliante Op. 22, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in c minor,
3rd movement along with other solo pieces. He plans to pursue further musical training at both the
undergraduate and graduate level.
