Paul Wee

Praised for his "exquisite technique" and "wonderful musical
imagination", Paul Wee was born in Melbourne, Australia, and began
piano studies aged four. Shortly after, he gave his first recital aged
5. Numerous performances and appearances followed, including a live
radio broadcast of works by Heller and Ibert, and multiple appearances
in the Sydney Opera House.
Aged 11, Mr Wee moved to London, where he continued his studies with Angela Brownridge, and that same year made his solo debut in the Royal Albert Hall playing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto no.1 in G Minor. Two weeks after his 12th birthday, Paul returned to the stage of London's biggest concert hall, performing the Saint-Saens Piano Concerto no.2 in G Minor.
During his time in the United Kingdom, Mr Wee obtained his Grade 8 certification with distinction aged 11, and also was a guest performer at the 250th Anniversary Commemoration of the Death of J.S. Bach.
Mr Wee moved to New York City aged 14, studying at the Manhattan School of Music with Adam Kent. He currently pursues his studies in music at the Manhattan School of Music with Nina Svetlanova, and attends the United Nations International School. A candidate for the IB diploma, Mr Wee has received offers from Kings College and Oxford University to read law, and has applied to the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music and the Curtis Institute. Mr Wee also qualified as a National Merit Semifinalist, and obtained a 1590 on his SAT.
Also dedicated to chamber music, Mr Wee enjoys playing in small chamber groups, and has experience in piano trios, quartets and duos. He has been the pianist for several musical productions, including Cabaret and Oliver. Mr Wee has also studied the craft of the piano technician, having apprenticed at Baron Piano Services over the past 3 years.
